Maroon 5 just helped put together a free music playlist for you to download and we wanted to let you know about it.

A few weeks ago, they were hanging with a friend when they came up with an idea.

They said:
"Let's get a bunch of bands together and give away free music to people who pledge to vote.

Then after they pledge, we can send them some information that helps them find out everything they need to know about early voting, absentee voting or just finding their neighborhood polling location."

We contacted the people at Rock The Vote to help run the project, recruited some very talented artists to give away songs and launched the thing this morning.

First Act has unveiled the 222 by First Act line of musical instruments in an exclusive partnership with Adam Levine, lead vocalist and guitarist for multi-platinum Grammy winning pop band Maroon 5. Comprised of twenty-two separate musical products, 222 by First Act is the biggest line of signature musical products ever created for mass retail. This comprehensive musical line, created specifically in conjunction with Levine, is a first for the lifestyle music brand.

ADAM FEATURED ON OBAMA COMPILATION
Barack Obama's presidential campaign, which has inspired a multitude of songs by stars and amateurs alike, is now getting an official soundtrack.

"Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement," which takes its title from an Obama campaign slogan, features Adam Levine, Kanye West, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder and others. It will be available for sale exclusively through Obama's campaign starting Friday - September 19th.

Proceeds from the CD ($24.99 for a digital download, $30 for a physical product) will help fund Obama's campaign until Nov. 4, Election Day, according Hidden Beach Recordings, which created the CD.

While most of the songs on the disc have been previously released — such as John Mayer's "Waiting On the World to Change" and Stevie Wonder's classic "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" — a few of the songs are new, including John Legend's "Pride in the Name of Love" and "Promised Land," a song by Malik Yusef featuring Kanye West and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.

So here we are... how are you? Another day... how did you sleep? enough? feeling rested?
busy? happy? stressed? First of All... thanks to you all for coming out to our shows with the counting crows and augustana and sara bareilles ... this has been our favorite tour so far... and we've really had a great time with y'all so far. Second of all... Someone responded to the last blog about this upcoming US election with the question "is it really all that simple?" and... i don't know the answer... part of me says Of course it's not simple... there are SO many people on this planet, and all of us are leading unique lives with totally different circumstances shaping our worldviews... but then on the other hand, if you look at it from a certain angle, that fact does indeed become simple... because if we realize that not everyone thinks about the world the way that we do, and we give people space to lead their lives according to their beliefs, then hopefully we can figure out a way to set up a structure in society that cares for everyone's health and basic needs. Now, i know that there are times when certain peoples worldviews include some kind of insane belief that people with opposing viewpoints from theirs need to be killed... for either economic gain, or in the name of God...

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JAMES VALENTINE
I know it's been a while since I have written a blog. For this I apologize. But I feel compelled right now to tell you about a great new artist with a swell record coming out. The band is called Willoughby. They are fronted by one of the most talented multi-instrumentalists I have the privilege of knowing, Gus Seyffert. He's been touring around playing guitar and bass some other great artists, Sia and The Bird and the Bee, but now he is deservedly in front of the mic. He also produced another great singer-songwriter named Benji Hughes (deserving of his own separate blog). I hope you all go check out this record. It's a down tempo, haunting affair that I listen to over and over again. Check out these pages and go buy it and see him play and buy his T-shirts, and maybe a bumper sticker, tell your friends about it, buy it as a christmas gift, or maybe even as an anniversary present, you get the idea. . .
